Embrace The Wait

Hey, Y’all!

Michele Bernard here, checking in to ask, how are Y’all doing? Drop us a line, a comment, a text, a call. David and I truly hope you are well and send our best wishes your way!

Like many of you, David and I are working from home these days. The truth is, as a long-time member of that medically vulnerable group of folks we keep hearing about on the news, I have been practicing social distancing for quite some time now. As a big ole extravert, who loves nothing more than hugging necks, kissing grandbabies, and attending fun gatherings, trust me when I say, it’s not my favorite thing to do. As an introvert, David is much better at this (which may be why he’s had the patience to develop so many tasty treats for the rest of us to enjoy). Because of the health challenges I live with, as a family, we’ve learned a thing or two about how to turn social distancing, this necessary, albeit inconvenient life-saving obstacle into opportunity. Over the next few days, I’ll be sharing a few favorite ways we’ve learned to pass such time, and David will be sharing recipes, featuring pantry items and deep freezer finds.

In the meantime, as I recently stated on our Facebook page, at Bernard’s Gourmet Foods, we are proud to be members of #TeamTexas. We are committed to doing what we can to best be of service during these uncertain times. Please know we hold the safety and well-being of all we serve in every decision we make.

We are so very proud and grateful to be members of the vast network of fabulous suppliers bringing wonderful Texas-made products to H-E-B. We will continue to work closely with our H-E-B partners to ensure a well supplied selection of BGF Gourmet Roasted Salsas. Truly, no store does more than H-E-B when it comes to taking care of Texans!

In our hometown of McKinney, Texas and in the Dallas Fort Worth area, we will continue to provide a well supplied section of BGF Gourmet Roasted Salsas. We will continue to provide front porch delivery upon request. We are particularly grateful to McKinney Wine Merchant and Patina Green Home and Market for carrying our products. We will continue to support these fine establishments as both suppliers and happy customers as well. We will continue to participate in and support our McKinney Farmers Market at Chestnut Square farmers and makers. We will continue to find and provide ways to nourish our neighbors facing food insecurity. We will continue to support the McKinney Hunger Free Coalition, Community Lifeline, The Community Garden Kitchen of Collin County and Holy Family School. We will continue to plan and work toward producing a fabulous Star-Spangled SalsaFest for all to enjoy. And, as a family, we will continue to support our faith community, St. Peter’s Episcopal Church.

For all, no matter where you live, we will continue to offer online shopping. We are happy to deliver or ship straight to your front door. #TeamUSA !

Finally, trust me when I say, I know a thing or two about living with uncertainty as a constant companion. With time and practice, and prayer, and help and excellent example from a whole lot of y’all, I’ve learned to embrace the detours, the challenges and the unexpected pauses along the way. My hope and my prayer is that we each find wonderful ways to embrace the wait and help each other during the great collective pause we find ourselves sharing today. Or, as writer Mandy Hale more beautifully states, “Trust the Wait. Embrace the uncertainty. Enjoy the beauty of becoming. When nothing is certain, anything is possible.”
