Happy Weekend, y’all! Happy Saturday! It is our earliest, busiest, favorite day of the week.
Why?
Because we get to hang out with you, and bond over our mutual love for all the things that nourish us! Green leafy vegetables, swapping favorite recipes, hanging out with family and friends, and of course, sharing great tasting salsa!

We get to see some of you at Farmers Market
Others, thanks to technology, we get to see via social media! Either way, it is our favorite day to say hey and catch up on all the news and happenings!

Speaking of playing catch-up, in case you missed it last week, we’ve been working hard to fill our new website’s Recipe section with all of our favorite recipes. While we’re at it, we’re also sharing our faves on Pinterest, Facebook and Instagram. Still to come is our weekly newsletterIf you’d like to receive our latest news and favorite recipes dropped directly into your inbox, let us know here. We would love for you to join us!

Sharing recipes back and forth with you might be one of our favorite things to do! Last week, we introduced you to Howard and Tina, two to follow if you like good and good for you food. We all swooned over Tina’s Green Chicken Chili Recipe. She was kind enough to share both a printable recipe card, as well as, an easy to follow cooking video.

We also enjoyed one of our family fave’s, David’s Tomatillo y Poblano Avocado White Corn soup.

After a busy Saturday morning, our family gathers back at our house to share a late lunch and give thanks for all the ways we’ve been nourished by our community. We also talk about all the ways we can do the same. These conversations begin and end with the excellent example set by our friends and neighbors.

We applaud our friends and partners at H-E-B. They truly are the beacon and excellent example for all who strive to Take Care of Texas. We can all help them reach their goal of donating $2 million dollars to Feeding Texas when we purchase H-E-B brand products during this Summer of Giving.

For those of you who shop H-E-B stores in Austin, San Antonio and Houston, you can help us reach our goal to support the Central Texas Food Bank, The San Antonio Food Bank, and the Houston Food Bank. In these cities, when you buy Bernard’s Gourmet Foods Roasted Cooking Salsas we give .50 cents for each jar sold back to these wonderful organizations.

In North Texas, we are thankful to the North Texas Food Bank, and for all members of the McKinney Hunger-Free Coalition. These fine organizations and those who serve are our heroes and we want to do whatever we can to support their efforts, especially during these challenging times. For the remainder of the farmers market season, we will continue to donate our McKinney Farmers Market at Chestnut Square proceeds to package and provide beans, rice and oatmeal to be distributed to local families via member organizations of MHFC.

Finally, and mostly and always, we are thankful to you and for you and for all the many ways you nourish us and our shared community. We truly do appreciate you! Wishing you and yours a wonderful weekend! Carpe Diem y’all! Michele and David
